The project implemented a traffic “micro-simulator”, subsequentely used for studies
regarding urban area in the cities of Genoa and Savona. The word “micro” means that every vehicle behaviour is explicitly simulated by means of equations and rules
describing the vehicle movement and interaction within traffic flows (routes, kind
of vehicle, turns, actions etc). The target of this kind of simulation is to analyse the impact on traffic performance of decision such as traffic lights time sequences, set up of one ways or reserved lanes, displacement of car parks.
